Yeah, the balance of the web version is pretty off, because I balance it with my typing skill :')... The version on the Steam is more balance. Please try it and hopefully wishlist it :D.
It is honestly one of the first games that has sucked me in as hard as Papa's Pizzeria did in a long time! Mr Whiskers also gives the same vibes as the evil penguin in that Wallace and Gromit movie. The difficulty level at its lowest was still pretty challenging for me, but my typing has gotten so fast from just speed running this game alone. The only thing was that I couldn't click the "DEL" button to get rid of made dishes, but I guess that's a glitch in the browser version? Thank you for making this amazing game!

played this game for like two hours simply trying to get above 90% accuracy. It's so fun! It would be kinda cool if we could see our wpm for the level we played but that may be hard to implement. The story was definitely not what i expected (but very funny) and I think the game is super fun even though a little heart racing at times. Keep at it and I can't wait for the full game release!!
Thanks! Yeah we plan to implement wpm feature but, it's challenge by itself, because the word is so fragmented, and usually you wait from one word to the next because you are thinking what stuff you need to type or waiting customer to finish.
So simply dividing total word counts by the time elapsed will give you really different wpm.
We might record the speed only after you press the first character of each word and stop recording when you finish it, but I'm still not sure that it will be accurate
Another possibility is because the anti-virus software, sometimes they quarantine any suspicious .exe file... and it gives false positive for some file
IDK... My computer definitely acts up from time to time, but every anti-virus thing I've ever tried said everything was fine.
The other game was Typefarmer by Antti Haavikko. I was wondering if it had something to do with Itch or some library my PC doesn't like for some reason.
I guess we'll see.
p.s. The Steam version works perfectly. Wishlisted, and excited for the full version. :-)
The game is quite good and fun, but it can be a bit difficult for people who don't speak English or it's not their first language (like me). I really liked it, added to my wishlist on Steam.
I think I'm having a bug, Once my shift ends it doesn't proceed to the next one, just the game freezing. I can still type though and my chef can move around.
That game is fantastic! It’s incredibly fun to play. Everything about it is adorable, from the mechanics and art to the music. I love how it becomes more challenging as one progress. :D

AMAZING GAME !!! I had so much fun playing it ~ (even though it was a bit complicated with my keyboard since a few key aren't working ^^')
Also, I started playing in french (since it's my first langage) but quickly switch in english because some word were more complicated to write with all those letter "éèîô" especially when I had to type them in capital @v@ impossible
But aside that I really enjoy this game ~ everything is really well done. From he hilarious story to the beautifull visual ~

For the keyboard part, yes it's still not perfect, we have noticed that certain character is hard to type, for example is É, È, Œ, œ, we have thought that because it's native in French language, French people could just write it without a thought... but we are so wrong about it lol. And for the symbols, yes, we haven't adapted to different keyboard layout, the symbols used is more or less from standard QWERTY keyboard.
In the future we will address this issue. For the hard character, maybe we could make sure the word that using it won't come up. Or we could allow typing E for character É, or È, and typing OE for Œ.
But yeah, we need help from the communities to address this issue because we are not used to with different keyboard layout.
I loved the story so much and the gameplay is a lot of fun but the game lags for me and also I remember at some point it said I can change the difficulty but I didn't find the option... I barely passed the last level to see where the story went!
Hello, I'm glad that you like the game :D... if the game lags, I think it's because there's some bug :')... I'm sorry that you experience that, it would be solved by closing and reopening the game. For the difficulty option you could find it in the settings on the main menu. Currently you can't change the difficulty when you are in the level :')
Wait, really? We thought we have handled that case... could you give me more detail? It's pretty serious bug if you could not play it properly :')... do you play the windows version or the web version? and what kind of resolution your screen has?
for this demo, the progress saves... but for the full version one, I'm afraid we could not achieve the backward compability of the save file, because the level will be changed a little bit and rebalanced... :')

I saw a comment below about typing symbols makes it so hard to keep the flow, as a fellow non-QWERTY user, I gotta agree. I'm using the workman layout. I'll be looking forward to that accessibility update! 👀
Another thing I'd like to request is to display a caps lock indicator on screen. There is a light indicator on my caps lock key, but it's usually covered up by my hands so I can't see it. Sometimes it throws me off cuz my keys stopped typing, apparently it's cuz my capslock is still on :") or skill issue, maybe both.

My one critique is the actions that require symbols (i.e. "*[\" etc.). They disrupt the flow of the game massively, as they can be awkward to write quickly, as opposed to letters which are quickly addressed. Additionally, the symbols posed specific issues for me, as my keyboard layout is Nordic, which means some symbols require even more awkward modifier-keys and double-taps to engage

Hello @Reru, we've heard you, and all the guys who has been tested our game, we've admitted that the game has difficulty balancing issue, it's too hard for the most people :').
We've planned to update our demo soon with better balance and some other new feature!

The best typing game I'm ever play (not a fan of typing game). But, dang!!! This version is so hardcore, it really is a maso~~ type of game. I'm playing with the normal difficulty though. The dino and !@#$% language is really argh~~~~ And that mouse, really, can I just buy a cat for the resto?
Have to say, I am insanely impressed by this. Was not expecting one of the Best Typing Games I ever played (sorry Mavis Beacon) when I started. Loving the Art style with the Paper Mario Influence as well as the emotional dynamics between characters.
The typing element alone is a great tool to help kids improve their typing. It made me want to increase the difficulty to the max in order to test my skills.
Only problem, I was not able to play the WebGL version, but I did download the Windows verison. Assuming you can get the WebGL Version to run on other devices like Tablets/iPad with external Keyboards, it can open up a wide player base.
Congrats again on winning Best Asian Game for Game Jam Plus.
For the WebGL version, we are still not sure what's the problem, some people say that they have problem to run it, but some could run it ==a... we need to investigate it more I guess.
And congrats to you too to win Best Game for Africa Region :D

I don't know why, but every time I close out of the game, my pc automatically deletes The Chef's Shift.exe.
Running on Windows 10 Pro, intel i5 core cpu.

I love this game at first play, but the last level on the third difficulty seems impossible with all the rats
