BEHOLD! The ultimate roguelike experience, I guess

Slice and Dice is a short dice-based roguelike game loosely set in Victorian London. This is a  submission for a BGDJam 2022. This game is made in 3 days or so.

You are Sir Fancypants, a fine gentleman who decides to wake up one day and choose violence. Slice and dice your way to victory throughout many stages, which most of them probably is about murdering a couple of strangers. Along the way, you may encounter some crates lying around the street (with weapons in it, how convenient!), your old pal Greg trying to upsell you one of his weird inventions, and a few good tea drinking spot, I guess.

Can you prevail? Or will you suffer the pain of not being alive?

How to Play

  • This is a turn-based game. Try to defeat your enemy before he does it first
  • On your turn, you can use your 3 items, each can be activated by dragging one of your dice onto your desired items.
  • Each item have different properties. For example, using a Derringer will deal N+2 damage to enemy, where 'N' is your dice value.
  • After you end your turn, the enemy will attack you. Then rinse and repeat until one of you ceases to exist, so try to use your item strategically if you want to progress.
  • After each combat, you can choose the path you want to go.

  • Plan your course strategically! Exchange and/or upgrade your current equipment by visiting a shop; Gain one free equipment by visiting a crate; and restore some health by visiting a rest point.
  • That's it, I guess. Good luck!

This is an awesome game!

One minor UI nit: it should be sufficient to drag a die onto any part of a card, rather than only onto the center.

Hey thanks for trying our game! :D
Thank you also for the feedback :D. Currently, we don't have any plan to update the game, but if we do it, we will keep this in mind :D.

For your information, this game is heavily influenced by Dicey Dungeon. If you like this type of game, I really recommend that you check that game out :D. Cheers!

funny how hard this is :D like if the first shop gives you bad cards you are dead. Also getting 30 life thugs in the first 2 fights should not be possible, they can just tank you easily :D

hahahaha thank you for the reply... yes indeed it's pretty luck based :')... and indeed we don't give much though of balancing the game when we submitted it to the gamejam hahahaha...

thanks for trying our game tho :D

Nice little game , like it very much :)

hey glad that you like it! :D

Welcome to The Bitchuation Room! Sorry, couldn't resist; The Cannery is also used as that show's theme. x3

Anyway, pretty fun game. The map layout kinda reminds me of Slay the Spire, and I remember having fun with that game!

Edit: It's brutally hard! I know rougelikes tend to require a bit of luck, but this goes a bit too hard into it. Whatever strategy I think of just don't matter against an enemy who can wipe you out in just 2 turns! One point where I think a bit more randomization should be used is the aforementioned map; It's always the same and feels like I'm taking the same path every time because of it.

yes admittedly it's still not well balanced XD... but it's not impossible to win (but you need certain luck).

basically the current winning strategy is to get really high damage weapon and take the path with less enemy.

And yes, it's pretty much inspired by Slay The Spire, and also Dicey Dungeon :D

Hella tough lamp post. Good game !

wakakakak thank you :3
