This is an entry for Pirate Software Game Jam 15 with the theme of Shadow and Alchemy.

Game Summary

Law of Equivalent Exchange is a base-building game involving shadows and alchemy!

You start off with gathering resources and construction before opportunities as upgrading, or even sacrificing your workers, are open to you. Worried you'll run the land dry in your quest for gold? Fear not as the further you progress, the more resources you can spawn and the more workers you can breed.

asikkkk mau cobain UwU

- amazing title screen and overall graphics

- what a unique theme... burn workers at a stake...

- I placed some houses, a woodcutter and stonecutter. For a while, both woodcutter and stonecutter collected resources, but then the stonecutters stopped and even after placing another stonecutter and switching workforce over, no stones were gathered. I restarted the game, placed only one other house and both work places again. This time only stone was gathered. (Edit: I didn't read your notes about darkness, that helped!)

- kinda weird that a darkness-generating pillar doesn't make its own tile dark

- not sure how to get this building to work... I probably should've just placed it in a darker area from the start

Disclaimer: These are just my opinions, so a lot of it is very subjective.

Hello, thanks for trying our game :D.

Yes the building doesn't give itself shade... It's kinda like, if you are the tallest building, you still get the light.

And for the Distiller to works, it needs 12 Darkness.

Putting basic pillar in each 4 sides is not enough, because it's only gives 8 darkness, where each pillar only gives 2 darkness.

You need to upgrade the pillar, so each pillar gives 3 Darkness.

Yeah The art is cool but there is no sound and no explanation on what to do, it's rough

Yeah, sorry, haven't had time to implement audio and tutorial :')

For now, the tutorial is on my note in the comments :')

A little bit info about the game:
- The goal of the game is to transmute Lead into Gold and of course upgrading all Worker into Sun Worker
- The transport button (Pause, Play, x2, x3) is not implemented yet, but you could speed up the game with 1, 2, 3, 4 button on Keyboard
- Drag the map with right click, and zoom in and out with scroll
- The Save System is not implemented yet, so you need to restart the game if you close the game
- The Quest System is not implemented yet, so all the building is available from the beginning, so it's still pretty confusing to see late game recipe in the beginning
- The available resource at the beginning is Wood, Stone, Quicksilver and Lead
- To create new Worker, just build new House
- To harvest Wood from Tree, you need to make Woodcutter's Camp, and assign Worker in that building. The same with Stone from Rock with Stonecutter's Camp. And Galena Ore and Cinnabar ore from Galena Node and Cinnabar Node with Miner's Camp.
- Pay attention for Darkness and Productivity. Each Building requires certain Darkness to work, if it's 0%, it won't produce anything.
- This applies to House also. The House need to have certain Darkness so the Worker could work.
- To create more Darkness, you could build Pillar to give some Darkness Surrounding it.
- To transmute Metal, you could use Cauldron, but it needs Shadow resource, which is obtained by sacrificing Worker in Burning Stake.
- Ritual Ground is used to spawn new resources surrounding it.
- Currently the Breeding Pool is not working. Haven't had the time to implement it.

Known Bug:
- The Worker won't be sacrificed when it still has items. Make sure they don't have item before sacrificing it.
- The resource balance seems off, it might be depleted before you could get Gold.

Hi alijaya!

Your art looks cool and I can't wait to play your game.

Unfortunately, itch.io is showing an error right now.

You might need to enable SharedArrayBuffer in your game page.

Hello jollyh, I'm sure that I have enable SharedArrayBuffer, it runs in my computer, I have tested it on mac and windows, could you perhaps try it again? ._.

I tried again from your game page, and it's working!

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the issue only happens when you use itch.io's game jam randomizer (?) I saw some comments about that when I was using the randomizer last night.

Anyway, I'm excited to play your game!

Oh, I never used the randomizer :')... Glad it works right now!
